In the recent news, Sir Alex Ferguson has finally hit out at the Premier League’s complete fixture list. His team Manchester United currently faced away games after every one of their Champions’ League group matches. Sir Alex has lashed out in a very angry manner against what is taking place currently in the scenario. Sir Alex as most people and football enthusiasts would know is the Manchester United boss. He has claimed that his side or rather his team is at a disadvantage with the current losing of the champions losing at Arsenal on Saturday less than 3 days after their match at Celtic. United have already played against teams like Chelsea, Blackburn and Everton after many European matches this season. Ferguson was quite angry and he blasted out by saying that it’s usually said that the league’s not handicapped but actually it is handicapped. Such vehemence should have logic as it’s none other but Sir Alex who is angry.

According to Sir Alex all the games that happen after a European tie takes place away from the homeland. In his words, “Every game after a European tie is away from home.” According to him, his team that is Manchester United has got the top 10 teams from last year’s league all away from home in the fields. So Sir Alex is not intimidated just angry at the state of the football affairs. However, such viewpoints can be overlooked because Manchester United isn’t the only team participating in the English Premiership Footballfixtures. There are 20 top professional English teams participating and each other the top 20 years are decided through promotion and relegation and these top 20 teams are the shareholders in the English Premier League Soccer . Of course the top f teams may have qualms about fixture dates as they are also required to play the Champions League but that’s all part of the big game.

Very recently the English Premier League Soccer identity has been slightly changed as it is now known as the Barclays Premier League because Barclays are the games official sponsors but that doesn’t undermine the popularity of the term EPL for the English Premiership Football games. The decision of starting the English Premier League Soccergames was an entirely money making venture that was aimed at pumping in more money into English football. Till the 90′s it was the European teams that dominated the football scene and it was during this era that English football started getting major recognition.

So far, Manchester United has won 10 of the championships, the most by any team since the start of the English Premiership Football phenomenon. Initially when the games started, 22 teams participated but that number reduced to 20 in the 1995 teams, when 4 teams were relegated and only 2 teams promoted. There was a further proposal in recent years to reduce the number of teams playing to 18 but that still hasn’t been effective. The idea of English Premiership Football changed the face of football because the money involved s just too big and this league alone enjoys maximum television viewing too. With bids to buy new players reaching new heights, to and rich teams are selling and buying players at their convenience with transfer windows being something to look out for at all times. The valuation of top players is incomparable and mindboggling.

The English Premier League Soccer season lasts from August to May. Each team plays twice, so, that’s 38 games for each team. The teams are played on home and away basis, and goal difference could sometimes make all the difference. For each game won, 3 points are awarded to the winning team. If a game is lost, the losing team gets no point and in case there is a draw, both teams get 1 point each. At the end of the season, the team with the highest points wins the league games.

Despite its great coverage the league has often been criticized at the way things are shaping up because as the years have progressed, it clearly appears that 4 teams have been on a winning spree, as such the top teams are almost never willing to give up their positions. This includes Manchester United, Chelsea, Arsenal, and Liverpool. A lot of their success has been attributed to the money power these teams command as they are able to but the best of international players when transfer windows open as money doesn’t seem to be a concern but smaller clubs don’t enjoy the same prowess. Despite this, support for the EPL isn’t diminishing and no one thinks it’s boring just as yet. What’s even more interesting is supporters worldwide almost wait for new player transfers or acquisition to determine how a player can change the face of a team.
